2022 Wayfarer WF2 Rosé

Tasting Notes

Aromas of freshly picked strawberries, ice cold watermelon slices and soft rose petals flow from the glass.  There is copious freshness in this wine that invites each sip, with bright acidity and a juicy finish.  The 2022 has a remarkable persistence and purity on the palate.  Youthfully vibrant, this is a Rosé that can cellar for a few years if desired.

About Wayfarer WF2

WF2 wines possess a true sense of place, outstanding quality and exceptional value. 100% grown and made by us in tiny quantities, they are a barrel-by-barrel selection.

Winemaking Notes

The Pinot Noir grapes were hand-picked at night and firm, cool clusters were delivered to the winery before sunrise.  We hand-sorted and destemmed the fruit before fermenting the juice in neutral French oak barrels.  The wine aged sur lie for three months prior to bottling.

Vintage Notes

Though rainfall in 2022 was below average, it was a welcome reprieve in a series of drought years, giving our vines energy for the growing season.  However, due to two prior years of severe drought, the vines produced fewer clusters on each shoot.  This reduced yields significantly, down 35% in our Pinot Noir.  Much of the growing season was warm and humid, relative to our typical dry summers.  While it was one of the warmest vintages on record, the wines simply do not show signs of this.  Rather, the wines show incredible balance and elegance, and a remarkable purity of fruit that shines in the Rosé.
